In this talk Berteun Damman from Optiver will give a short history of high frequency trading, it’s current state and discuss some of the challenges of building a safe and fast trading system. Current trading systems are highly automated and extremely fast, but there’s a danger in this as well: what if things go wrong? How does Optiver handle these risks, and how to engineer for correctness.
