In this workshop you get the opportunity to work on the IT challenges we faced when we designed “De Energiefabriek”, the new power plant in Hengelo that generates heat & electricity from sewage sludge that comes from all around Twente – even from you! This is done in a manner that is both economical, sustainable, and circular. During this workshop your goal will be to optimize the control of the power plant: you must convert the plant from being an energy consumer into an energy producer. You will make use of a power plant simulator: you will use the simulator, extend it, and debug it. We have put a number of puzzles in the simulator that can typically arise during the design and operation of such a plant. By solving these puzzles, you will improve the plant’s energy producing capabilities.
