'Look after your friend'-training (deel 2)

Your time as a student can be a lot of fun, but it can also be challenging sometimes. If things are not going so well for you, chances are great you first talk to your friends about it before talking to anyone else. After all, your friends are approachable and are in the same stage of life as you, facing the same difficulties. However, as a friend this might sometimes be difficult and raise a lot of questions: ‘how can I help my friend without letting it affect myself too much?’, ‘how can I listen to someone in a way that makes them feel heard?’, ‘what does a certain diagnosis actually mean?’, and many more.

To help out with these type of questions and struggles, the psychologists of the UT have developed a training in collaboration with the Student Union. In this training, given by two student trainers, several topics will be discussed:

  • Practical tips on looking after your friend
  • Supporting a friend through the student journey
  • Understanding your friend’s diagnosis
  • Knowing your services: getting professional help in- and outside of the UT

You will be asked to do a short preparation beforehand and you will also receive a guide containing extensive information on the topic. The training will be given fully in English.

The training sessions for Inter-Actief will take place on Wednesday 8th of Februari 17:30-19:00 (part 1) & Wednesday 22nd of March 17:30-19:00 (part 2). These sessions are complementary, so participants are expected to be there for both sessions!

This is part 2 of the training, you can only attend if you have also attended the first training
