A dive into the nesting problem that we are working on at Voortman. In this lunch talk we'll explore the nesting problem with regards to steel beams and the efforts Voortman is making to improve the efficiency and the problems we are encountering doing so.

We will explore what constitutes a good nest, and what the effect of our machines is on the algorithm used to generate a nesting solution. We will also give an overview of the tools we use to solve these problems and bring these solutions to our customers.
