Symposium Hype Drink

After a well-deserved Christmas break, the symposium committee is back to working on Symposium Sentinel. However, we have a little trouble re-adjusting to the workload after two relaxing weeks, so what better way to get back in the workflow than organizing a drink? What is a symposium?

The symposium is an event where conferential talks are held discussing a specific topic. The talks are given by companies and researchers in the sector. In between the presentations, you have a chance to approach companies and get an insight into their work. The symposium brings together students and professionals and provides the foundations for future collaborations in the form of employment opportunities, internships or graduate theses.

Symposium Sentinel will focus on public safety. Public safety is about maintaining a safe and orderly environment for everyone. In this society it is becoming more and more normal that ICT-systems are used to achieve this goal. Take, for example, the use of camera systems on the street, or a calling system with a control room to be at the site of an emergency as soon as possible. These systems are almost unmissable in our current society. Public safety is also about tackling bigger safety threats, like the tracking down of organised crime. Symposium Sentinel will broaden your knowledge about the IT-systems used to reduce these safety risks and give you a better view of how IT works to make our society safer.
