Lunch Lecture: Tennet
The power of policy versus a code base TenneT, the Dutch Transmission System Operator (TSO) of the High Voltage grid has a lot of duties. Some of those are obvious: make sure the power cables don't break and we all have the light on. But there is also a lot of software involved with monitoring, maintaining, controlling, regulating and facilitating the power grid. Software used for these duties needs 24/7 availability, needs to be highly reliable and it also needs to change a lot all the time. New legal policy, changes in the physical grid, changes in society and international agreements with other TSOs all have an impact on our software. In the mean time we also need to keep it maintainable, up to date and performing well. In this presentation we will dive into the impact on our architecture and code base and how we deal with all these conflicting pressures on our development cycle.
