Each and every one of us has been asked at least once what they do at bol.com. For the outside world, the answer is simple: we run an online store. But for us, it’s much more than that. We experiment. We develop. We monitor. We fix. We innovate. We learn. And we enjoy all of it!
Technology runs in the veins of all bol.com’ers. And by “bol.com’ers” we mean everybody, whether they work in IT or not. We are the largest retail platform in the Netherlands and Belgium. With more than 6,5 million customers, 28 million monthly visits and almost 15 million products everything we build is at scale. Our software evolves with the company. We are 350 IT professionals and with every new project we strive to be more efficient, more scalable and more secure.
As bol.com engineers we get to build software using our skills and our creativity. We build IT. We ensure our systems run 24/7. We run IT. We always have the opportunity to make a change and improve the things around us. We love IT.
This is not to say that we don’t make mistakes, that we don’t fail or we never encounter bugs. We are like any engineer out there: we love technology and we love our work, but we’re not infallible.
